Pennie Coffey Scholarship for Women
Pennie Coffey spent her professional career in service to the people of Grays Harbor as an art teacher first at Ocosta High School then at Hoquiam High, retiring in 1998 to pursue her interest in travel.
She loved helping young people learn to express themselves. She always went the extra mile for students who showed promise and initiative, and had a special fondness for those who were struggling as an underdog. She was gifted in the art of creating family, drawing people into her life and building them up.
As a legacy to her desire to make a continuing difference where she could, she created and funded the Pennie Coffey Scholarship for Women when she died in 2006.
