When Marian J. Weatherwax passed away five years ago, she left her entire estate to the Grays Harbor Community Foundation with some very specific instructions. She wanted to continue to support several nonprofits that she had annually supported for many years. She also wanted to support education in Aberdeen and provide scholarships for graduating seniors. She also wished to provide for the Aberdeen Timberland Public Library that she had supported as a member of the “Friends of the Library.”
The instructions in her will were very specific as to what was supported for each group, and how the funds were to be administered. To accomplish Marian’s goals, the Community Foundation set up five funds and coordinated an agreement with the individual organizations to establish the specifics of the gifts and the distribution instructions.
