Our grant programs consists of a Community Building Grants Program and Small Grants as well as grants that are Donor Designated or Donor Advised.
The Board of Directors of GHCF is responsible for determining where to use those assets and earnings to best serve our community. We have a Grants Committee that reviews all grant requests to ensure they fit the mission of the Community Foundation, satisfy our Giving Priorities, result in good benefit to the community, and meet IRS legal requirements.
Community Building Grants Program
The Community Building Grants Program employs the earnings on unrestricted funds to make grants to support the other nonprofits in Grays Harbor accomplish their missions. The Grant Applications are reviewed twice annually by the Grants Committee that has the fiduciary responsibility to ensure viability and benefit of the project or program. They develop recommendations that must be approved by the Board of Directors.
Donor Advised Funds
The trustees of a Donor Advised Fund may request (preferably in writing) that a distribution be made from that fund for a charitable purpose. The Grants Committee reviews those requests with the same fiduciary responsibility as discretionary grants and, when satisfied, recommends approval by the Board of the request. Agency Funds fit the same.
Donor Designated Funds
The Donor Designated Funds are established with a particular purpose, schedule, and recipient organization defined. The Grants Committee also reviews those requests with the same fiduciary responsibility as discretionary grants and, when satisfied, recommends approval by the Board of the request.
